Let the right remakes continue: Deadline reports that Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls) has joined Showtime’s Let the Right One In pilot. The show, which also stars Demián Bichir (Godzilla vs. Kong), is reportedly inspired by both John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2004 vampire novel and the 2008 Swedish film adaptation of said novel—but not the American film adaptation, the unsatisfying Let Me In.

Rose has been cast as Naomi, who lives next door to Mark (Bichir) and his 12-year-old daughter. Described as “brilliant but cynical,” Naomi is a single mother and homicide detective who is at first happy to see her son, Isaiah, befriend the girl next door. But given that Mark’s daughter is a vampire, this friendship is not likely to go well.

This version of Let the Right One In comes from showrunner Andrew Hinderaker, who created the Netflix space drama Away, and Tomorrow Studios, which was also behind a 2017 TV adaptation that never made it into production. So far, Showtime has only picked up the pilot episode, which will be directed by Seith Mann (Homeland, Elementary).

Rose is a Tony Award-winning actress and singer whose TV credits include The Good Wife and Private Practice. She was the voice of Tiana in The Princess and the Frog and starred in last winter’s Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (pictured above).

There’s no word yet on who will play the kids, or when the pilot might air.
