Epix, the premium channel that’s produced shows like the Batman-adjacent Pennyworth and docuseries Slow Burn, has picked up From, a new science fiction horror series from screenwriter John Griffin, about a “nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter.”

Griffin’s a fairly new writer on the scene—he wrote an episode of CBS’s rebooted The Twilight Zone, and is currently working as a writer on a TV adaptation of Magic: The Gathering, and an upcoming Shawn Levy film called Crater, a coming-of-age story set on the Moon.

From is his latest project, and Epix has picked it up for a ten-episode first season, with production slated to begin in Halifax, Nova Scotia next month. The series is described as “contemporary sci-fi horror”, and follows the residents of the town who “must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest – including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down.”

It sounds a little like what we saw recently in Marvel’s Wandavision—a town held hostage by a grieving superhero. According to Epix, Jack Bender, who’s worked on shows like Lost, Game of Thrones, and Mr. Mercedes, is set to produce and direct the show’s first four episodes. The series will also be produced by Midnight Radio and Anthony and Joe Russo’s outfit, AGBO. The network hasn’t revealed a cast or release date as of yet.
