Reactor

Say farewell to the delicious punny name: Serial Box has rebranded as Realm, a name which “better communicates our focus on the content, that we deliver stories that are truly a portal to another world,” CEO and co-founder Molly Barton told Variety.

Along with the rebrand, Realm is launching a new format for listening to its shows. Select series will now be available as free, ad-supported podcasts, available across a range of podcast platforms. Their Orphan Black series, “Orphan Black: The Next Chapter,” written by Malka Older and narrated by the show’s star, Tatiana Maslany, is one of those series.

Realm has also added a subscription format: Listeners can pay a flat fee (monthly or yearly) and have nearly unlimited access to the Realm library of stories. There’s just one catch—their Marvel and DC series remain only available as single purchases. But subscribers will get a discount on those serials, which include tales focused on Black Panther, Wonder Woman, Jessica Jones, and others.

More new things are on the way for the company; Barton told Variety that they are branching out into co-productions, and in 2019 it was announced that two Serial Box dramas were in the works as a film (“The Co-Founder”) and series (“First Street”). There are no updates on those adaptations, though.
