Netflix has revealed when the Devil will grace us with his presence: The second half of Lucifer‘s fifth season will debut on May 28th on the streaming service.

Roughly based on the Sandman character from Neil Gaiman, the series follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), who leaves Hell for LA—he was bored and needed a change of scenery. After leaving, he sets up shop with a nightclub called Lux, and ends up helping an LAPD detective, Chloe Decker (Lauren German) during a murder investigation. He’s able to mess with people and manipulate them into doing what he wants, which makes him a useful consultant for the LAPD, and along the way, he helps deal with some supernatural threats to his new home, all while he and Decker begin to fall for one another. The series received mixed reviews when it kicked off, but it’s since gained a devoted fanbase.

That fanbase has helped save the series on a couple of occasions: The show debuted on Fox back in 2016, where it ran for three seasons. After its cancellation, Netflix picked it up for two additional seasons, and it announced back in 2019 that its final season would be split into two batches, the first of which eventually debuted in August 2020.

Then, the streaming service reversed itself: It renewed the series for a final-final sixth season, which will debut sometime after these upcoming episodes. The show will come to a definitive end with the sixth season, but at least we’ll have this next batch of episodes to enjoy in the meantime.
