Sherlock Holmes is one of the most adapted characters in all of literary history, and Netflix is taking a(nother) shot at him with a new series, The Irregulars. The series follows a group of London teenagers who are roped into helping him solve a number of supernaturalish crimes that have popped up throughout the city, and will debut on March 26th.
With the premiere coming up, Netflix has released a full trailer for the show that reveals what we’re in for: something supernatural is prowling around Victorian-era London, and Holmes and his partner Dr. Watson approach a gang of teenagers—Bea (Thaddea Graham), Jessie (Darci Shaw), Billy (Jojo Macari), Spike (McKell David), and Leo (Harrison Osterfield)—because one of them can see ghosts.
It seems that someone has “opened a rip [in] the barrier between our world and the next” and it’s causing so,me problems in London, which includes malevolent flocks of ravens, dead bodies coming to life, and giving people strange powers, leading to horrific murders that will destroy everything they know if they can’t get the rift closed.
The series is set to debut on March 26th, and interestingly, it’s not the only people-with-strange-powers-set-in-Victorian-England-show coming out in the nearish future: HBO and HBO Max are set to release The Nevers on April 11th, about two women who help other women with strange powers.
