Following the Justice League Snyder Cut, Kiersey Clemons Will Co-Star As Iris West in The Flash

Kiersey Clemons is on board the upcoming The Flash, playing reporter Iris West—and not for the first time. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Clemons played the role in Justice League, but her part was cut by Zack Snyder before Joss Whedon took over the film. (In a twist, Snyder has added Clemons back to his upcoming four-hour director’s cut.)

Clemons co-starred with Nick Offerman in 2018’s father-daughter music film Hearts Beat Loud. She’s had a lot of TV roles, including parts on Transparent and Angie Tribeca, and is reportedly co-starring with Gael García Bernal in Jonás Cuarón’s futuristic Zorro story, Z, though there hasn’t been any news on that film in quite some time.

As well as being a reporter, Iris is the love interest for Barry Allen (Ezra Miller). They’re childhood friends who grew up together after Barry’s mother was murdered and his father was blamed for the crime. On The CW’s The Flash, she’s played by Candice Patton. Television Iris is now Iris West-Allen, having married Barry (in a double ceremony with Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak) a few seasons back. (Their big wedding got interrupted by an invasion. It happens.)

It director Andy Muschietti is directing The Flash from a screenplay by Christina Hodson (Birds of Play). Last month, it was announced that Sasha Calle will play Supergirl in the film, which will also feature Michael Keaton as Batman. Little is known about the plot, though the film is expected to premiere November 4, 2022.
