Amazon Prime Video is launching a new horror anthology series from Lena Waithe, Them, and is set to debut on the streaming platform on April 9th.

The studio released a trailer for the show’s first season, which will follow a black family as they move from North Carolina to an all-white neighborhood in Los Angeles in the 1950s.

Waithe has worked as both a writer and actor, writing for projects like Master of None and appearing on Westworld, Dear White People, and Onward. Back in 2018, Amazon ordered two seasons of her horror series, the first season of which was originally titled Them: Covenant.

The trailer shows off a tense story as the family moves to their idyllic-looking new home, with friendly-seeming neighbors. It isn’t long before things take a chilling turn as the family begins to see those neighbors watching them—and it isn’t long before they’re pursued by something horrifying that’s looking to destroy them. The entire project has the look of something like Us meets The Stepford Wives.

Amazon describes the series as a “limited anthology series that explores terror in America”—it’s not clear what the next season will focus on. This current season is set to debut on April 9th on Amazon Prime.
