After one more Machete movie, Robert Rodriguez will be shifting gears and making a children’s superhero movie, this time for Netflix. Deadline has reported that it’s called We Can Be Heroes, and its cast is full of familiar faces from some big genre shows.

According to Deadline, the plot revolves around the kids of a group of superheroes who are kidnapped by alien invaders, forcing their children to save the world. It will star Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra, Mr. Robot’s Christian Slater, Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal, Captain Marvel’s Akira Akbar, and The Purge’s YaYa Gosselin, with Rodriguez writing, directing, and producing. Deadline reports that filming is currently underway in Texas, and there’s no word on the characters or a release date.

This isn’t the director’s first superhero or kids movie. In addition to the Spy Kids movies, he also made The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (yes that is official title), starring Taylor Lautner as the titular shark-boy. Hopefully this next project will be just as bonkers.
