Look, there’s only one appropriate response to this. You know it, we know it, so let’s just get it out of our system.

Alright, shall we?

One…

Two…

Three…

*Keanu voice* Whoa.

Now that that’s over with, let’s move on to the thing at which we are whoa’ing: The Matrix is turning 20 this year, and Dolby Cinema is bringing it back in theaters for one week.

Entertainment Weekly reports that this will be the first time the Wachowskis’ 1999 masterpiece will get the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos treatment. What does this actually mean? Well, apparently it means we’ll get to experience Neo getting to know kung-fu, Agent Smith’s pre-ASMR ASMR voice (seriously, just think of the tingles), and Morpheus’ age-old Dayquil/Nyquil debate in super-immersive picture and sound.

“Bringing The Matrix to life in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos pays homage to the masterpiece that the Wachowskis created 20 years ago,” the senior vice president of Dolby Laboratories’ Cinema Business Group, Doug Darrow, said in a statement quoted by EW. “Movie lovers will be able to see and experience unforgettable sequences like bullets flying in slow motion with the utmost detail – transforming one of the most iconic sci-fi films of this generation.”

EW reports that the one-week re-release will begin August 30th in AMC theaters equipped with Dolby Cinema. Advance tickets can be purchased here.
