Catherine Hardwicke is adapting a lesbian Viking fantasy comic. We repeat: CATHERINE HARDWICKE IS ADAPTING A LESBIAN VIKING FANTASY COMIC.

According to Variety, Hardwicke (who gave us Twilight and Red Riding Hood), will both direct and executive produce the lesbian Viking fantasy comic in question, Heathen by Natasha Alterici. Published by Vault Comics, it follows “a viking girl Aydis, who after being banished from her village for kissing another girl, sets out on a mission to challenge the god king Odin.” That’s the synopsis from volume 2’s hugely successful Kickstarter, and I…just…shut up and take my money!

Lest you fear the movie will be straightwashed to oblivion, Vault Comics EIC Adrian F. Wassel assures us on Twitter that “The screenplay is very gay.” Alterici herself chimed in with “In case anyone’s worred. ;)”

There’s no word yet on casting or production, but as usual, keep an eye on this page and we’ll update it when we know. In the meantime, we’ll all be binge-reading Heathen here at Tor-dot-com HQ.
