Are you ready for more Russo bros? At their San Diego Comic-Con 2019 panel on Friday, Joe and Anthony Russo talked about making Avengers: Endgame and teased the possibility of a Secret Wars movie before previewing all their upcoming projects, according to CBR‘s live-blog of the event.

The first two will feature two familiar Avengers: Endgame faces, albeit in completely un-Avengers-like settings. First up will be Chadwick Boseman, starring as a detective who tries to shut down Manhattan to hunt for two copkillers in 21 Bridges. According to CBR, Boseman himself beamed in with a video clip during the panel, revealing the Russos had approached him for the role the night Infinity War premiered before introducing a new trailer for the thriller.

Next up will be Tom Holland, who will star in Cherry, an R-rated film about the opioid crisis based on Nico Walker’s critically acclaimed debut novel. According to Yahoo, filming will begin in October. It’s not clear how closely the movie will follow the novel, but here’s the book’s official synopsis, according to Penguin Random House:

A young medic returns from deployment in Iraq to two things: the woman he loves, and the opioid crisis sweeping across the Midwest. Soon deep in the thrall of heroin addiction, he arrives at what seems like the only logical solution: robbing banks. Written by a singularly talented, wildly imaginative debut novelist, Cherry is a bracingly funny and unexpectedly tender work of fiction straight from the dark heart of America.

Following these two gritty flicks, the Russos and their company AGBO will move on to some lighter fare, including Netflix’s upcoming animated adaptation of Magic: The Gathering.

“We’re geeks and we love Magic: The Gathering,” Joe Russo said, according to CBR. “If you’re a fan of Jace or Chardra, get excited.”

After that comes two more adaptations, one of Battle of the Planets (a cartoon series from the late ’70s that’s itself an adaptation of a Japanese anime) and one of Grimjack (an ’80s indie comic about an aging mercenary jack-of-all-trades named John Gaunt). According to CBR, the Russos confirmed that they will be producing Grimjack, while they may or may not be directing Battle of the Planets, which will be live-action.

What are your thoughts on these upcoming projects?
