Those lucky enough to be at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a sneak peek at the new IT Chapter Two trailer on Wednesday night, and word on the street said it was scary as hell. Now, the clip has been uploaded for the rest of us, so we can float too.

The (yep, terrifying) clip opens innocuously enough with a flash-back of Bill giving Beverly a ride on his bicycle down the streets. “Something happens to you when you leave this town,” Mike says in a voiceover. “The farther away, the hazier it all gets. But me, I never left. I remember all of it.” From there, a clap of thunder and that horrible doo-doo-doo sound that plays whenever Pennywise appears signals a quick departure into horror territory…

As Den of Geek reports, three of the scenes in the trailer were were also shown as extended clips during ScareDiego: the Losers Club’s reunion in a Chinese restaurant in Derry, Bill trying to protect a child in a funhouse, and Bill trying to convince the Losers not to follow him into the Neibolt House.

During the panel, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast shared a ton of fun tidbits about the sequel’s making-of, including:

  • the cast got letters and framed photos from the actors who played their younger selves (Bill Hader: “I think we all had the same thought at the same time: ‘there’s no way I’m going to put up a picture of a young boy.'”)
  • over 4,500 gallons of fake blood were used in the film (Jessica Chastain bearing the brunt of it)
  • James McAvoy developed tendonitis from shooting and reshooting “a tenth of a second”-long moment where he falls to his knees

IT Chapter Two picks up almost three decades after the events of the original film, with IMDb’s synopsis reading: “Twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back.” The film stars Hader as Richie, Chastain as Beverly, McAvoy as Bill, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, James Ransone as Eddie, Jay Ryan as Ben, Andy Bean as Stanley, and Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise. It arrives in theaters September 6.
