In 2013, fans of Robert Jordan’s epic Wheel of Time series finally got to see Rhys al’Thor send Sa’khan back to his home planet…

…wait a minute.

That’s not right, obviously, but in the 1980s there was a window of time where that could have been the planned climax of The Wheel of Time. Over at The Wertzone, Adam Whitehead has put together a really fun could-have-been history on the genesis of The Wheel of Time, compiled from Jordan’s early drafts of The Eye of the World and initial pitches for the series. The series underwent massive and repeated change on its way to becoming the epic we know and love. Aliens! A volcano city! A lost fourth ta’varen! It’s pretty wild.
