Finding out that the role would be expanded to incorporate ideas that Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett had for an unfinished Good Omens sequel was even better. Are you ready?

Are you sure?

Here you go:

Jon Hamm as Gabriel in Good Omens

Look at all those subtle shades of grey! And those stylish shoes! And that, um, turtleneck? Why would a celestial being go for a turtleneck?

We’ll chalk this up to ineffability.

Neil Gaiman tweeted this lovely shot himself, saying he was sharing it “for you, for me, for all of us. FOR PEOPLE NOT YET BORN. This is what Jon Hamm looks like as the Angel Gabriel in the upcoming TV series of GOOD OMENS. A thing of beauty, and a joy for ever.” We have to agree, and we’re also pleased to get this timely reminder that even with the American Gods adaptation going through some turmoil, there is still joy to be found in the nexus of Gaiman and television.

Good Omens will cast its benedictions upon us via Amazon (and the BBC in the UK) in 2019.
