Synchronize Your Watches and Enjoy the New Trailer for The Shape of Water

Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s charming-looking sea monster love story The Shape of Water. Despite being the red-band trailer, it’s not so much NSFW as just friskier than the ethereal first trailer—with a few f-bombs (one unexpected) and amping up the tension as lovelorn Eliza (Sally Hawkins) hatches a plan to free The Asset (Doug Jones) and Michael Shannon’s Colonel Strickland resorts to any means necessary to stop them.

While the first trailer was much more solemn, this one gives you a sense of the movie’s dark humor without lessening the stakes of the sea-crossed lovers’ story:

The Shape of Water comes to theaters December 8.
