Ava DuVernay Shares First Behind-the-Scenes Photos From A Wrinkle in Time

Filming for Disney’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time wrapped this weekend. We know this because director Ava DuVernay, who has been incredibly active on social media since early casting and the first shot, marked the occasion by tweeting out a bunch of photos of the impressive cast and crew. While most of the shots are from in-between takes and before special effects, these behind-the-scenes sneak peeks nonetheless give us a real sense of Storm Reid as Meg Murry, among others.

That looks to be Meg and Calvin O’Keefe (Levi Miller) above, in a very striking shot. DuVernay also posted one-on-ones with each of the actors in what look to be key interdimensional moments. With Reid:

That’s a wrap on @StormReid. Hands down, one of the most formidable actors I’ve worked with. The world will know her name. Love you, @Storm.

DuVernay appears in a lot of the shots, conferring with the actors between takes. With Miller:

The great @StormReid is Meg. She does it all. Happiness. Heartbreak. Action. Emotion. And w/ grace. Our hero. In the story. And on the set.

That’s a wrap on @LeviZaneMiller for WRINKLE IN TIME. Our leading man. An actor with great power. And a gentleman already. Thanks, Levi!

And of course she had to give a shout-out to Oprah:

A Wrinkle in Time Oprah

That’s a wrap on @Oprah for WRINKLE! Gosh, we had fun. My great friend. Her role as MRS. WHICH is literally out of this world. Thanks, OW.

Interestingly, no photos of Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Chris Pine as the Drs. Murry, but plenty of Mrs. What (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling). Check out DuVernay’s Twitter for those and future updates.

A Wrinkle in Time comes to theaters March 9, 2018.
