Arrival Director Tapped to Helm Dune Remake

It has been officially announced via Brian Herbert that the upcoming Dune remake will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. Villeneuve is the Oscar-nominated director of Arrival and Sicario, and the director of the upcoming Blade Runner sequel. What we’re saying is, Villeneuve is clearly the new “it” director for SF films, and he is already doing an excellent job. So this is good news! Legendary’s deal gives them the rights to both film an television adaptations of Herbert’s Dune series, but it’s safe to say that this is an announcement for a movie rather than a show.
