Patriotism in Action!

When Lân Diêp won a seat in the City Council of San Jose, he had a great idea for his swearing-in ceremony, and luckily for us, San Jose Mercury News reporter Ramona Giwargis shared a photo of it on Twitter. But lest you think this was a frivolous gag on the Councilperson’s part, he had a good reason for wielding his mighty Shield, as he told The Washington Post: “One of the most patriotic things that you can do is get involved in democracy… I take the job seriously, of course. I take myself less seriously. I’m not above entertaining people in hopes that they will wade through the policy discussions.”

We’re pretty sure Cap would approve.
