Alexis Bledel Joins The Handmaid’s Tale as Ofglen

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale premieres in just a few months, but there are still Handmaids to meet! We already know that Elisabeth Moss plays the titular Handmaid Offred, renamed for the man who owns her, and that Samira Wiley is her best friend Moira, from the time before the dystopian Republic of Gilead. Now, we meet Ofglen, Offred’s fellow Handmaid and confidante, played by Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel.

Hulu shared a first-look photo of Oglen, in the iconic Handmaid garb, looking like she’s perhaps pledging allegiance to Gilead and its Commanders. Or maybe she’s contemplating the mysterious whispers of “Mayday” among the handmaids and the growing resistance. In fact, considering Rory Gilmore’s fate in Netflix’s recent revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, this is a very interesting role for Bledel to take on.

The first episode of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere on Hulu on April 26. In the meantime, the women of The Handmaid’s Tale are posting photos and updates on Instagram. You can follow along with the current posts from Yvonne Strahovski (who plays Commander Fred’s wife Serena Joy) and whoever else picks up the mantle.
