The nominees for the 74th Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning. Anna Kendrick did the honors, revealing a list whose biggest surprise was the two big nods for Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool: Best Actor and Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. The latter category always has a fascinating hodgepodge of films, and this year was no exception: Deadpool was honored alongside La La Land, 20th Century Women, Sing Street, and Florence Foster Jenkins. Yes, the movie starring Meryl Streep as the world’s best/worst opera singer.

It’s kind of weirdly fitting in the same way that the movie clearly made its way onto so many people’s favorites lists. Considering that Wade Wilson loves him some Bea Arthur, we wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a Meryl devotee as well. He probably loved her in The Devil Wears Prada.

Reynolds shared his delight at the nomination on Twitter in the most fitting way:

Deadpool wasn’t the only example of genre representation: Arrival picked up nominations for acting (Amy Adams) and original score. And on the smaller screen, Game of Thrones has competition from Stranger Things and Westworld for best TV drama; Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) all got acting nods. (Though no Tatiana Maslany for Orphan Black, boo.) The complete list of nominees:
