20th Century Fox is getting in on the superhero television game with two X-Men-inspired projects: the forthcoming pilot Legion on FX, and now a family drama slash action/adventure pilot on Fox. The network gave a put pilot commitment to the untitled series, written by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix, which will be overseen by producers from both the X-Men movies and Marvel.

All we know about the project so far is that it follows two ordinary parents and their extraordinary children. When the kids’ mutant powers begin manifesting, the family goes on the run from the hostile government, in the process meeting up with an underground network of mutants. Nix will executive-produce alongside Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, as well as Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory from Marvel Television.

Jonathan Davis, president of creative affairs at 20th Century Fox Television, said:

Working with Marvel on a television series for Fox has been a professional dream for our head of development, Michael Thorn, and all of us at the studio. Matt, Lauren, Bryan, Simon, Jeph and Jim are a powerhouse team of creative artists, and we can’t wait to get started on what will easily be one of this development season’s most exciting new projects.

Loeb added:

Marvel Television is thrilled to be co-producing with 20th Century Fox Television on our first project. Matt’s a huge fan of X-Men and his take on X-Men, with its rich characters and high-stakes adventure, is exactly the show we want on Fox. It’s a great team of creative producers who will be making something entirely unique.

No word yet on if this TV show will tie into the movie franchise—though you would assume so, with that creative team—or if the mutant kids will be entirely new characters, or if we’ll see some familiar faces from the big screen. Mostly we just want Deadpool to drop by for the annual holiday episode to screw with the continuity.
