Brooklyn is Getting the Heroic Statue it Deserves!

In honor of Captain America’s 75th birthday, Marvel is unveiling a giant bronze statue of the First Avenger. Cap will tower above evildoers at 13-feet-tall, and potentially crush injustice with his 2000-pound heft. He’ll be guarding the Marvel booth at San Diego Comic-Con before embarking on an epic cross country quest to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, where the statue will be celebrated with a dedication ceremony on August 10th. The base of the statue will be engraved with the Captain America: The First Avenger quote “I’m just a kid from Brooklyn”… because of course anything Cap-related has to be as inspirational as humanly possible. Marvel’s Paul Gitter also waxed philosophical, saying, “We hope that when fans see the statue, they will think back to a favorite comic book, treasured action figure or even be transported back to a special time and place in their lives where Captain America’s values played influence.”

This will open a fantastic new possibility for future Marvel movies, too! We can just imagine Sam Wilson repeatedly jogging past it muttering “On your left”, or Bucky Barnes trudging through the rain, only to gaze up at the statue while musing on what his future holds…
