Building a Cyberspace Community — John Scalzi’s “Unlocked”

Set in the mid-21st century, John Scalzi’s Lock In proposes a world radically altered by disease. At first it seems like the flu. Then you’re permanently trapped inside your body. Awake and unable to scream. You’re “locked in.”

For Cyberpunk Week, we’re pleased to encore Scalzi’s prequel novella “Unlocked: An Oral History of Haden’s Syndrome” which traces the medical history of the virus and sets the stage for humanity’s transformation as it slowly learns how to become free from the bonds of its own flesh.
