Even though Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has already opened in theaters, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment continue to play up the viral marketing. A recent Instagram post from LexCorp decried Lex Luthor’s actions, though Lex also made a mysterious statement: “Ding, ding, ding, ding. Are we entering the second round?” Despite claiming not to know what its founder meant, LexCorp is now hinting at something big, coming next year.
The company’s latest Instagram post reads:
We hope we haven’t lost you as our valuable client. #LexCorp Something big is coming. Our newest project will be fully functioning by 2017. Thank you for standing by our side. #timeforchange
What do you know, Justice League Part One comes to theaters November 17, 2017. But what could LexCorp be hinting at? At this moment, both fans and outlets are theorizing that DC universe villain Brainiac could be coming online by next Thanksgiving. Last month, LexCorp’s viral website went online, with an announcement teasing LEX/OS, the world’s first neural network-based operating system. The company’s mission statement carries some suspicious undertones:
Innovation is a human instinct. The desire to make our lives better, easier and safer has driven invention since man discovered fire. In the 21st century, we are innovating automation. An age of machines that will “think” for us, freeing up human brain power to tackle the world’s bigger questions. When machines behave like machines, they can be compromised. But when machines begin to behave more like humans, that complexity and uniqueness can make us more secure. LEX/OS is the world’s first neural network based operating system. We’re teaching it to think like a human, but we need your help. As a Beta Tester, your actions will teach the system how humans solve problems. Each time you participate, the system will get smarter. Ready to get started?
If they’re beta testing now, who knows what they’ll have in time for the fledgling Justice League’s first challenge?
