Wonder Woman first footage

As part of The CW’s special DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League, Kevin Smith and Geoff Johns shared the first footage from Wonder Woman’s standalone film. Mixed in with some footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we get a look at Diana’s (Gal Gadot) coming-of-age on Themyscira, and the events that lead her to cross over into our world.

“The Amazons were once created to protect man’s world,” Johns explains, “but they’ve since abandoned it. And Diana’s asking constantly, ‘Why don’t we go do what we were created to do and protect man?’ and they say, ‘Because they’re not worth it.'” Smith stresses the importance of telling a story about a powerful woman; Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins adds, “The greatest thing about Wonder Woman is how good and kind and loving she is, yet none of that negates any of her power.”

Watch the footage, including a shot of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor:

Wonder Woman comes to theaters June 23, 2017. Batman v Superman comes out March 25, 2016.
