The New Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Proves This Was All Lex Luthor’s Idea

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice new trailer Lex Luthor Jesse Eisenberg

“The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world,” Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) gleefully crows in the new trailer for Warner Bros’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. “Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham.” Lois Lane’s (Amy Adams) response is a simple “You’re psychotic”—which isn’t wrong, but there’s also something amusingly melodramatic about this new trailer.

Whereas the first teaser jumped ahead to everyone hating Superman, this trailer backtracks a little, to show us not the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader, but Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne warily circling one another: They recognize something in each other, even if they can’t put a finger on it. They’re also split over what Batman‘s been doing: his brand of vigilante justice, which has left Gotham more frightened than safe.

And of course, there’s Lex, delighting in being a shit stirrer. Eisenberg’s performance is probably what I’m most looking forward to in this movie, with the Clark/Bruce scenes being a close second. Unfortunately, I’m worried these little, interesting moments will take a backseat to the destruction porn that dominates this trailer.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice new trailer Wonder Woman Gal Gadot

Oh, and while Lois Lane gets one line, Wonder Woman doesn’t even say anything, just shows up looking (admittedly) badass. Fingers crossed we see more from both of them when Batman v Superman justices the dawn or whatever on March 25.
