Warner Bros has released the final trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road a few weeks before its theatrical release, and it focuses on Charlize Theron’s character Imperator Furiosa. While Tom Hardy plays Max, Theron is the one who has captured fans’ attention, with her shaved head, bionic arm, and badass name. Now, we know some more about what brings Furiosa to the wasteland.
While it’s unclear what kind of title “Imperator” is—similarly, we don’t know why the movie’s villain calls himself Immortan Joe—Furiosa appears to be some sort of smuggler. Here, she’s peddling gas, or “2,000 horsepower of nitro-boosted war machine.” Not surprisingly, this is the kind of post-apocalyptic world where alliances shift, and various groups of scavengers and war parties fight over the meager resources. All of this is old hat to Furiosa, who now must bring Max onboard as well.
