The Chosen People are set to square off against two terrible, not to mention unexpected enemies in a pair of anthologies intended to “irreverently explore the links between speculative fiction and Judaism” showcasing a selection of stories that “run the gamut from the light-hearted to the profound, in turns surreal and enchanting.” Edited by World Fantasy Award winning author Lavie Tidhar and Rebecca Levene of Smiler’s Fair fame, Jews Versus Zombies and Jews Versus Aliens are to be released as ebook originals on March 19, with a limited physical edition to follow in the future.

As Theodor Herzl said, “If you will it, it is no dream!” No doubt he was speaking of just such a project.

Jews vs Aliens is ten stories strong:

  • “Antaius Floating in the Heavens Among the Stars” by Andrea Phillips
  • “On the Matter of Meroz” by Rosanne Rabinowitz
  • “Alien Thoughts” by Eric Kaplan
  • “The Reluctant Jew” by Rachel Swirsky
  • “To Serve… Breakfast” by Jay Caselberg
  • “The Farm” by Elana Gomel
  • “Don’t Blink” by Gon Ben Ari
  • “Nameless and Shameless” by Lois H. Gresh
  • “The Ghetto” by Matthue Roth
  • “Excision” by Naomi Alderman

And Jews vs Zombies features the following short fiction:

  • “Rise” by Rena Rossner
  • “The Scapegoat Factory” by Ofir Touche Gafla
  • “Like a Coin Entrusted in Faith” by Shimon Adaf
  • “Ten for Sodom” by Daniel Polansky
  • “The Friday People” by Sarah Lotz
  • “Tactrate Metim 28A” by Benjamin Rosenbaum
  • “Wiseman’s Terror Tales” by Anna Tambour
  • “Zayinim” by Adam Roberts

Both collections are coming from Jurassic London, the not-for-profit small press behind some of the most irresistible genre anthologies released in recent years, including The Lowest Heaven, The Book of the Dead and last year’s Irregularity.

Accordingly, all proceeds from the sale of Jews vs Zombies and Jews vs Aliens will go to support UK charity Mosac, which “provides practical and emotional support to non-abusing parents, carers and families of children who have been sexually abused.”
