Last week was the ALA’s annual Midwinter Meeting, at which the American Library Association announced the winners and honorees for a number of prestigious awards. We are very excited to highlight the Macmillan books and authors to be honored this year by the Alex Award, the Stonewall Book Award, and the RUSA Reading List!
First up is the 2015 RUSA Reading List, which considers the best works in the genres of adrenaline, fantasy, historical fiction, horror, mystery, romance, science fiction, and women’s fiction. Several Macmillan titles were highlighted:
- Fantasy winner: The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison
- Women’s Fiction winner: My Real Children by Jo Walton
- Science Fiction shortlist selection: Lock In by John Scalzi
- Mystery shortlist selection: The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man by W. Bruce Cameron
Two of these honorees also received other accolades: Lock In was selected for the Alex Award list, which highlights the ten best adult books that appeal to teens. My Real Children was named a Stonewall Honor Book in Literature, an award honoring books that depict the LGBT experience.
