Maisie Williams Would Fight 100 Duck-Sized Sandor Cleganes: Highlights From Her Reddit AMA

Maisie Williams—a.k.a. Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark, a.k.a. everyone’s dream BFF—did a Reddit AMA earlier today, and it was every bit as fun and wonderful as you’d imagine. There were plenty of GoT questions (though Maisie deftly avoided season 5 spoilers), plus a few queries about her life, career, and favorite foods.

Click through for the highlights, and check out the full AMA on Reddit!

Seriously, there was a lot of food mentioned… Maisie prefers crunchy peanut butter (“People who like smooth peanut butter are just aliens”), her perfect sandwich is apparently cobbled together from leftovers (“cold chicken, salt & vinegar crisps, and tomato ketchup”), and her favorite pizza definitely sticks to a theme (“pepperoni with some extra pepperoni, and then sprinkle it with some pepperoni”).

Proving that she is a pretty normal teenager, Maisie’s favorite movies include The Amazing Spider-Man, Like Crazy, and John Tucker Must Die. And when asked about guilty pleasure television, she replied: “I really enjoy The Great British Bake-Off. It’s like a competition show, but they all bake it, and it’s very funny, because they all cry over techniques. Like if they get their cake wrong, they’re just sobbing over a spongecake, and I find it hilarious.”

It should come as no surprise that Maisie initially sought a career path in dance, and in her AMA she mentioned that jazz is her favorite style because it suits dancers of “all shapes and sizes.”

As to her future acting plans, several people asked about the rumor that she’ll be playing Ellie in the film adaptation of the video game The Last of Us. Maisie hedged her bets, explaining that while the movie “is in very early days […] I’m hopeful that I can play Ellie in the future, but we’ll all have to wait and see.”

But you’re all here for the Game of Thrones questions, right?

Maisie was apparently blissfully unaware of her fame until a very specific moment: “At the season 3 premiere, we went to the Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, and stepping out of the car, with hundreds of people screaming my name, is when I realized that this show completely changed my life. It was very, very daunting—I found it quite scary—but it happened gradually, so I had time to get used to it.”

On portraying Arya: “I think as I’ve grown up, as Arya’s growing up, there’s definitely similarities between us. And it’s been really helpful for her personality to change as I’ve gotten older. And it’s been great for me to make the transition into being an adult actor with the same character.”

When asked what her own personal GoT-style house sigil would be, Maisie looked to her own pets for inspiration: “My sigil would be a tortoise, and my saying would be ‘Go hard or go home’ because your shell is hard, and it’s also your home, so…” (Can someone please design this already?)

Redditors also wanted to know what souvenirs Maisie has kept from the set. She hasn’t yet been able to swipe Needle, Arya’s sword in GoT, but Maisie says, “I have sneakily removed some of the Faceless Man coins from set. And they have gone missing. And I have NO idea where they went!”

When asked how she kept from fainting around gorgeous actor Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell), Maisie admitted, “It’s very difficult. I’m madly in love with him. And it’s quite—everybody has a crush on him. But I’d never tell him. Oh well, now the internet knows.”

Maisie also talked about her friendships with some of the cast members, particularly Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Rory McCann (The Hound). And in a slight twist on the standard reddit questions, N7Christian asked “Would you rather fight one Hound sized duck or a 100 duck sized Hounds?”

Maisie’s perfect reply: “Oh! I would love to fight 100 little duck-sized Hounds. Because I’d never in my life looked down on Rory, and that would be an interesting situation.”
