We may not yet know who Oscar Isaac is playing in Star Wars Episode VII, but we do know that he’ll play a major role in another big release! Variety reports that Isaac has signed on to play Apocalypse in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse, which won’t be out until May 18, 2016.

We don’t know much about the movie, but we think that it could draw from the comics’ “Age of Apocalypse” storyline. The movie is set in the 1980s and—in addition to James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and co.—will feature younger versions of mutants like Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm.

From what we glimpsed in the post-credits scene from Days of Future Past, Apocalypse is some sort of god-like mutant rallying an army. (Vulture has more info on Apocalypse, from his penchant for natural selection to his four trusty Horsemen.) Director Bryan Singer recently revealed that the movie will be the franchise’s most destructive installment yet:

Apocalypse will have more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.

Singer is working with Simon Kinberg and two other screenwriters on the script, which is “almost ready to go.” And now we have our villain!
