If you’ve thought that the Hunger Games movies have lacked that raw, in-your-face, real-time energy, then you’re in luck! Lionsgate is teaming up with Dutch media company Imagine Nation and the U.S.-based Triangular Entertainment to bring Suzanne Collins’ dystopian young adult franchise to the STAGE. Yes, The Hunger Games is becoming an immersive theater experience. It’ll be like Les Mis, but with even more on-stage deaths.

Imagine Nation’s successful immersive projects include Soldier of Orange, a Dutch musical in which the audience sits in a 360-rotating auditorium that turns from set to set; and ANNE, a retelling of The Diary of Anne Frank that uses rotating sets. Wanna bet that the theater version of The Hunger Games will rotate from the districts to the Capitol to the arena?

Lionsgate’s Chief Marketing Officer Tim Palen praised Imagine Nation for their “world-class production values and state-of-the-art technology.” Imagine Nation’s co-founder Robin de Levita mentioned her excitement at bringing to life “the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing.”

The Hunger Games theatrical experience will launch in summer 2016 (less than a year after Mockingjay, Part 2) in a brand-new theater built for exactly this kind of production next to Wembley Stadium in London.
