On October 23, the Brown University Library will honor Tor Books president and publisher Tom Doherty and author George R.R. Martin with the first-ever Harris Collection Literary Award. According to the Library, the award (inspired by Brown class of 1838 alumnus Caleb Fiske Harris and his love of the arts) “celebrates the influence of literature in pop culture.”

The evening will begin with a brief awards ceremony, followed by an interview with Doherty and Martin, led by Modern Culture and Media Professor Lynne Joyrich and local author Jon Land (Brown ’79), followed by a reception. You can find ticketing information here.

You can also follow along with the event on Twitter with the hashtag #HarrisAward.
