Will We Get a Sherlock Movie?

…Probably not. Or at least, not for a while, according to Steven Moffat. But this week’s Entertainment Weekly (which features a gorgeously brooding Benedict Cumberbatch on the cover) features the co-showrunner saying that we shouldn’t rule a film out.

The other question is simple: do we want a Sherlock movie? What would a big-screen adaptation add to this iteration of Doyle’s stories? Sherlock could curse a bit more, and maybe they could delve into even more gruesome crimes, but the BBC show has already established itself as a fairly gritty retelling, giving us graphic suicides, drug dens, and desperately sad elderly-lady-collateral-damage, all in movie-length adventures. What do you think—do you want to see Cumberbatch and Freeman reprise their roles in a big screen outing?
