The Loki and the Loon Comic May Be One of the Cutest and Most Meta Things on the Internet

Sometimes actors share common traits with the characters that they play, but even if they don’t, it makes sense that they’d feel a closeness to the fictional figures they occupy. Or, if you’re Tom Hiddleston, you might have a tendency to refer to yourself as Loki in interviews. Oops.

This gave one artist over on Tumblr a brilliant idea—what if Tom and Loki both occupied the same universe? What if they were roommates? What resulted is a sitcom-like comic titled Loki and the Loon (the latter coming from Hiddleston’s penchant for referring to himself as a loon whenever he gets excited about anything). It is all at once beautifully meta, clever, and heart-melting.

What would get an Asgardian near-god to room with a lowly human? Rent, naturally. Here’s the ad Loki put up on Craigslist in hopes of getting a roommate who wouldn’t be unbearably annoying:

The comic has gone through some adorable turns (including them accidentally ending up with Stitch as a pet), but the best moments of the comic are when this little fictional world crosses over with real life. For example, when Hiddleston appeared as Loki at Comic Con and admitted to writing Loki’s little script for the event, the comic decided how imagine how difficult it might be to pen that with a hovering god questioning your every word…

Or what happens when you raid your roommate’s closet in search of some sleeker winter wear:

All of this is just a small taste of the insanity over at the Loki and the Loon Tumblr, which you should absolutely check out if you like Thor or Loki or Tom Hiddleston or, you know, fun. Sometimes meta commentary leaves fandom with some real gifts, and this is undoubtedly one of them.
