We’re Going to Pretend This Under the Dome Preview is Another Battlestar Galactica Prequel

The latest trailer for the TV version of Stephen King’s Under the Dome is here! And though we’re totally excited about the potential of this show, particularly with Brian K. Vaughan adapting, we can’t help but feel baffled by the use of a faux-version of “All Along the Watchtower,” playing over the trailer. And really, that’s all we need to pretend that this is yet another prequel to Battlestar Galactica.

Okay. Here’s the trailer.

Spoilers for Battlestar Galactica right here (which ended in 2008, so really, these are pretty old spoilers. Also, spoiler alert for the 1960s: “All Along the Watchtower” is a song by Bob Dylan, but more famously covered by Jimi Hendrix.)

In BSG’s third season, the song “All Along the Watchtower” is what makes certain folks realize they are Cylons. Then, in the fourth season, the FIRST planet Earth was discovered, and it was revealed to be populated totally by Cylons. Maybe all these characters on Under the Dome are Cylons, and humanity freaks out and traps them in a dome? Maybe Stephen King and Brian K. Vaughan are really Cylons and they don’t even know it? You’re probably a Cylon, and watching this trailer has probably activated that knowledge. Sorry.
