Finding a book or author that matches other books you like is always a blessing, so towards that end I recently asked the Tor.com Science Fiction Facebook and Twitter sites to give their “if you like X, you should try Y” recommendations. Along the way we began to include films, as well as what books one might like if you enjoyed a particular movie.

For example, if you like the Miles Vorkosigan and Honor Harrington books, you should try David Feintuch’s Seafort Saga.

If you like Peter F Hamilton’s Greg Mandel books (Mindstar Rising, A Quantum Murder, The Nano Flower), you should try Eric Brown’s Bengal Station series (Necropath, Xenopath, Cosmopath).

If you like China Miéville, you should try Felix Gilman.

If you like Hackers, you should try Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash.

Thanks to everyone on Tor.com Science Fiction Facebook and Twitter satellite sites for their suggestions! We’ve barely scratched the surface here, though. Let us know your recommendations in the comments!
