Weekly Who: Miracle Days, Sailor Daleks, and more

Welcome to our Weekly Who roundup! We had so much fun doing the 12 Doctors of Christmas event that we’re having a hard time getting Doctor Who off our personal radar, so we thought we’d make a habit of sharing Who-related coolness that we stumble across about once a week.

Like the above Sailor Moon/Doctor Who crossover, drawn by DeviantArt user Dezychan. (Bigger pic in the link.) The inspiration?

“…it’s not my fault the new Daleks’ designs come darn near matching the Sailor Senshi from Sailor Moon… I am onto your ploy, Moffat!”

More stuff below the cut, including big news on all fronts.

In Doctor Who-related news, a couple of big items:

1.) The fourth (and fully American) series of Torchwood has a new name and a plot snyopsis!

Now titled Miracle Day, the series will follow the Torchwood team as the planet experiences a period of time where no one is able to die. According to showrunner Russell T. Davies:

“The premise is a miracle happens in the world,” Davies says. “One day, on Earth, no one dies. The next day, no one dies. The day after that, no one dies. The [people who are] dying, keep dying … but don’t actually die. The possibility of death ceases to exist. Which is great for some people. But it’s an instant overnight population boom. The earth relies on people dying … What is society going to do now? Some of the answers are beautiful and brave. Some of the reactions are terrifying.”

The planet’s population threatens to increase by millions as the weeks go on, so the world turns to the only person who has experience with not dying: Captain Jack Harkness.

Filming has just started on the new series and you can follow updates through BBC’s official Twitter.

2.) Catherine Tate and David Tennant are reuniting!

It was announced last weekend that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will both be returning to the stage in a West End production of Much Ado About Nothing.

Fans of the repartee between the Tenth Doctor and his companion Donna will undoubtedly be excited at this news. Here’s a video of the two of them talking up the project:

In cool Doctor Who stuff this week, we dug:

1.) This great blog post from That Neil Guy titled “11 Ways To Live Like the Doctor.” Number one? “Take Action.” Indeed.

2.) Bill Mudron’s Cat In The Hat version of the Eleventh Doctor and his companions. The Doctor fits astoundingly well with that illustrative style. Mudron has also put up prints for sale!

TARDIS door by NormalJean3.) Have you always thought that the Bill & Ted movies bit too much from Doctor Who? (A time traveling phone booth? Who’d believe that?) See them get their comeuppance in this illustration from Christopher Jones!

4.) GeekCrafts has this pic of normal doors refitted into TARDIS doors (at right) by NormalJean. Surely if we do this, the Tor.com office will become bigger on the inside?

5.) Anyone up for trying out some Steampunk Dalek wallpaper?
