The subtitle of this post is: “Because my mom said to.” I posted this 24 minute film on my blog and my mom insisted that more people should see this “strange and touching movie.” So…

Set in a New Orleans after the flood, Glory at Sea tells the story of a young man leading a grieving community to the underworld, by means of a boat constructed from the objects the flood left them, in order to reclaim their loved ones. It’s beautifully shot and has a dreamy momentum. It tugs at every sentimental heart string and yet you can’t seem to resent it for that.

Embedded here, for your convenience, but it’s best seen larger and in high resolution at: Glory at Sea from Court 13.
