Our fearless leader, Patrick Nielsen Hayden, took it upon himself to document the sheer enormousness of the San Diego Convention Center during Comic Con by walking the length of the con floor with a video camera strapped to his hand. As you can see in this video, he started outside the exhibit hall, made his way in at one of the ends, and walked the length of the two center long aisles, from far wall to far wall. Comic Con lore states that walking the entire floor–all aisles–amounts to around 7.5 miles of fancy footwork, dodging cosplayers, elbowing past mad crowds gathered around something particularly shiny, or just simply ‘swimming against the current’. This doesn’t include the hangar-sized Hall H, where the really big events took place; the mezzanine, where volunteer services was located; or the second floor, where most of the meeting rooms–including the massive Ballroom 20–are located. The walk-through took pnh around forty minutes, which have been sped up here for your convenience. Enjoy!
