The first trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of The Jungle Book tells you quite a bit about director Jon Favreau’s vision: We get a sense for how Mowgli (Neel Sethi) interacts with most of the animals in the forest, even if we don’t yet get to hear Bill Murray, Idris Elba, or Christopher Walken speak. The only voiceover we get is Scarlett Johansson as silly, devious snake Kaa, though right now she sounds more like the OS Samantha from Her.

It’s an impressive voice cast: Bill Murray as Baloo (but… isn’t Baloo supposed to be cuddly and fun?), Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Christopher Walken as King Louie (yes), Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, and Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha. But will they sing? There’s at least some whistling of “Bear Necessities” at the end, but it’s unclear how much this movie will deviate from the animated classic. Here’s the official synopsis:

Directed by Jon Favreau, based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli, a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan, who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera, and the free-spirited bear Baloo. Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa, a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie, who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.
