SciFi Airshow Taunts Us With the Real Thing

An artist friend sent me this link to Bill George’s Sci-Fi Airshow last night with a “must see” in the subject line. As an Air Force brat it brought back fond memories of sunburns, hotdogs, and long “Thunderbirds vs. Blue Angels” arguments. What I love about George’s faux Airshow, (besides spaceships!) is the harsh summer shadows. Seeing them, I am instantly nine years old, wearing a plastic and terrycloth visor, trying to take a squinty-eye look up at Starbuck’s Viper.

Irene Gallo’s dad has a funny story about flying with a Thunderbird as his wingman.
