Reactor

Bless you, Paul Feig, for taking seriously the gender swap in the upcoming all-female Ghostbusters reboot and deciding to make the receptionist (a part played so wonderfully by Annie Potts in the original films) male. And bless you, Chris Hemsworth, for being so comfortable in your masculinity that you would stand up to fill that oh-so-important role.

Mostly we’re just super-excited to see Hemsworth manning the phones, rocking some great glasses, and yelling, “We got one!”

Feig shared the news on Twitter yesterday:

Though he’s mostly starred in action films, Hemsworth is no stranger to playing it funny when he has the opportunity. Throughout the Marvel movies, we’ve watched his Thor soften from the stern Asgardian who was the butt of jokes to making some wisecracks of his own, especially in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He’s also got a role in the upcoming National Lampoon sequel Vacation, which requires him to be dumb and pretty. As Jezebel points out, if Feig wants more parallels to Janine Melnitz, we may get to see Hemsworth mooning over one of the four stars—Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, or Melissa McCarthy. It’s gonna be a lot of fun; here’s a preview:

That said, Potts is totally down for a cameo in the new Ghostbusters, so maybe she’ll pop in to show Hemsworth the ropes.
