thanks for posting art of the title, i'd forgotten all about that site. they've got a bunch of other SF title sequences, including Brazil, Planet of the Apes (1968), Gattaca, and mini features on the Alien quadrilogy and True Blood titles.

there's also forget the film, watch the titles. very little SF, but great nonetheless.

Wow. That Presto article and some of the other ones on Pixar are very interesting.

That vampire squid is...mesmerizing. I hate squidbeasts (I blame Peter Benchley's Beast) and I still was reduced to a slack-jawed gaper.

Also: Steampunk Dr. McCoy? AYYY!

Vampyroteuthis infernalis has been my favorite member of the order Vampyromorphida for quite some time now. Oddly, not my favorite cephalopod. That honor belongs to the Colossal Squid.

I quote: "Unlike the giant squid, whose arm and tentacles only have suckers lined with small teeth, the Colossal Squid's arms and tentacles are also equipped with sharp hooks: some swiveling, others three-pointed."

Seamus - did you watch the TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD titles. Amazing. I've seen the movie a few times but I guess I have not caught the opening much - i didn't remember how beautiful it is.
