In a departure from their trademark moral absolutism, People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals remain undecided about people who dress as anthropomorphic creatures.
“They’re not actually harming animals because the fur is synthetic,” says a PETA spokesperson, “but there’s no denying that they objectify animals.”
PETA is considering a spay and neuter program for furries, but may be satisfied if the fur-suited agree to adopt only herbivorous animal personae. Asked if the furries use of faux fur may contribute to the wealth of overseas sweatshop owners, PETA responded, “Nothing to do with us. Do we look like we’re People for the Ethical Treatment of People?”

I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but these are costumes for Pete's sake.
*shakes head at such silliness*

Quoted for truth...
OK, not really.
Quoted before the OP can edit the quote when she realizes it is April Fools Day. :-)
