Around the Web: Frank Miller needs to be stopped, sex with robots and/or in space, and Star Trek as you’ve never seen it before

Torie Atkinson

Frank Miller to adapt Buck Rogers - “Miller will write and direct his own big-screen take on the comic serial; while the creator has only begun to sketch ideas, it’s expected to be a darker take, with many of Miller’s signature visual elements and themes, such as corruption and redemption.” I sentence Frank Miller to the time-out corner, with Uwe Boll.

Sex! With! Robots! - Way more common than you think!

Sex! In! Space! - The History Channel will be airing a special on the subject of sex in space. This reminds me of David Levine’s Launchpad recap, in which his instructor explains that “Sex in space has almost certainly happened, but [...] the reason nobody has talked about it is that it’s not all that good. In space your nose stuffs up, you smell, perspiration doesn’t evaporate, your blood pressure goes down, and experiments on the Vomit Comit have shown that even hanging onto each other and achieving penetration is a hassle.” Sexy!

Snow Mailboxes - An Evanston, Illinois artist decided to pretty up the streets this winter.

Long-suppressed gay episode of Star Trek to reach the light of day - David Gerrold, writer of the classic episode “The Trouble With Tribbles,” and coincidentally a Tor author, wrote an unreleased episode dealing with gay characters. Star Trek Phase II, aka The New Voyages, has produced the episode and it goes live tomorrow.

Gears of War 2 art - CG Society talks to Chris Perna, art director for Epic Games.

Book View Cafe invited to speak to Library of Congress - “The Library of Congress, the repository of the United States’ literary heritage, is extremely interested in new methods of publication and distribution for literature. Book View Cafe’s innovative combination of author professionalism, cooperative creativity and internet outreach has sparked the Library’s attention.”

Trailer for Alex Proyas’ Know1ng - The film was written by Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) and Ryne Douglas Pearson, and is set for release in March 20, 2009.

There's some "gay star trek" in YouTube already. It's a very fun and worth watching video with an... appropriate... NIN soundtrack: "What if they hadn't made it to Vulcan in time?"
