So....I'll do it again.....thanks for the schedule....it sounds busy and exhausting! I'll check your schedule and if I find myself traveling to any of those places, I'll give you a shout here. Hope you connect with Wet and Sam and several in the Boston area. What an epic adventure!
Too bad about being stuck in Orlando! City of "Pretend"....such a strange place.....even for an American! Our airlines have all sorts of add on costs now...trying to stay solvent and really screwing the passenger. It's really not much fun to fly anymore, but it is efficient, so we do it. Have not camped in Yosemite, but it is beautiful. Have lived in Colorado and Utah in summers and know my way around the major National parks out west, so let me know what you want to see. There is nothing on the planet like the Grand Canyon. Really shouldn't be missed. Zion and Bryce in southern Utah are also nice and close to the Grand. Yellowstone is also a true don't miss spot. It's in northwest Wyoming. Let me know how much time you have and where you'd like to go in the West. I'll make some recommendations based on your time and interests.
I never bused around the NEast, but the trains are convenient...midtown to midtown, no airport hassles.
Low cost airlines? There are a few, depending on where you're going....JetBlue is great, Frontier, and Southwest. Check each of their websites for itineraries and prices. The pricing here is crazy....
two weeks out or more is usually cheaper, but then sometimes you can get good deals on Priceline just before departure. The airlines mentioned above usually do one-ways too and don't charge for luggage...many do now. Our air system is going to hell. Ever since 9/11 it's been a nightmare.
I could map out a very long but cool drive from Texas to Las Vegas, via Phoenix and the Grand Canyon....let me know.
I'm down in southeast Florida, on the beach. Don't see that on your itinerary!
Hi GCL. Sorry you won't make down to the tropics on this tour...we're kind of down in a corner.
Fastest, easiest, probably cheapest way to get around in the East Coast corridor, NYC, Boston, Bangor, Philly is the train. The trains elsewhere in the states aren't very reliable, but the East coast is compact and heavily travelled. From there, it depends on whether you are traveling for business or pleasure. There are some great drives, but they are time consuming. Let me know and I could make some suggestions....I've been all over the country, and I'd be happy to help.
As promised here is the list of places that I am going to on my tour (tor?) around the US. With cameos in the UK and Germany.
London, Munich, New York, Boston, Bangor, New York again, Philadelphia, St Paul, Rapid City, D.C, Memphis, San Antonio, Austin, Phoenix, Las Vegas, LA.
Thats pretty much in order as well so if you wanna catch up let me know. And if you have any advice on the best/cheapest way to get between cities if you could give us a holler it would be most appreciated.
