Agh...."It is great to be able to do that, but I would want you to read something there accidentally and ruin anything for you." I meant "I would NOT want you to read" any spoilers in my Shoutbox....My typing is horrible in these tiny Shoutboxes! Sorry about that.
Ben. Hello! Just thought I'd check in and see how you were doing. Happily forging ahead, I am sure. I think you are on HoC now? Probably my second favorite book, behind BH. I am sure that you have already thought about this (but I decided to post it just as a reminder for you)...while I will not post any spoilers here on your page, you probably don't want to read any of the posts in my Shoutbox as I frequently am discussing spoilers with other posters there. It is great to be able to do that, but I would want you to read something there accidentally and ruin anything for you. Well, I just happened to think about that and wanted to drop you a reminder about it. Happy reading friend!
Hi Ben. Whew. Sounds like you enjoyed the ride!! An incredible book. I love DG, but as you said, I think MOI is when it all starts coming together. The foreshadowing, the various gods, plots, people. I so loved Whiskeyjack and his relationship with Korlat
;- ( And Paran's journey is so unique...like him a lot too. Oh, there are so many! I'm so glad you decided to read ahead, as the reread of DG will mean so much more to you.....new "lightbulb" moments. HoC and tTH continue with these people, then MT moves to a whole new continent with a new cast of characters. I had a bit of trouble getting into it, as I did initially with DG, but at @ pg. 450 it all took off for me. I'm trusting it will all come together. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm with me. I'm glad I didn't steer you wrong!
I think Gruntle's "journey to power" took him completely by surprise as well. LOL Just a suggestion, you may want to bookmark Whiskeyjack's stabbing to make it easier for you to find if you want to reference it again as you continue through the series. I loved all of the "surprise" scenes in MoI. Thank you for sharing them with me! Happy reading!
So many great characters! DG's seems to be the "catalyst" book for many people but for me it was MoI. Paran is one of my favorite characters. Erikson is probably the best at writing "cities" and "landscapes" that I have ever read. I talked about that in one of my posts in GotM relative to Darujhistan. For me, some of the cities he described became almost like a character themselves. He wrote them so well that for me they were kind of like an "entity" or a "character" not simply a background location.
I hopeyou don't mind but I added you as my first "Follow" that way I can drop you a note from time to time, just to see how you are doing. I PROMISE, I won't spoiler anything! Please, feel free to drop me a note any time, just to let me know how you are progressing, share an occasional WOW moment, or a moment of confusion, or a theory, or just a "Hey, I'm starting Bonehunters" (my favorite book btw), or whatever. Just, if you feel comfortable to do so...please stay in touch and definitely come back to the re-read when you are finished with DoD! I promise you will never regret it! Robin
