Oh you so in trouble! In Phoenix for a long weekend and had better things to do than do lunch with Mr and Mrs forkroot? For shame :-)

I think we did meet, but never talked about the re-read...I guess there's always next year?

We mainly trade ETF's, we are thinking about working with some other companies to create and redeem the underlying assets - which would be very interesting. I kind of had a snort/giggle attack when the papers were reviewing what was in Palin's(Sarah and Todd's portfolio) and called ETF's exotic. I did work in the derivative and options deprtment at my first job out of school - I was filling in for someone, and decided that was a bit to fast paced and nail biting for me. I don't have the patience to work with actual clients - I deal with advisors and instituional clients. I really do admire advisors though - especially during times like these where we have a longterm rollercoster going on, and it never seems to fail - emotions start making the decisions - and inevitably the client ends up buying high and selling low(ouch!) So we try to give avvisors good talking points that help them help the client not to do just that - ofcourse it doesn't always work out. Did you find the first 1/3 of Deadhouse hard to get into? I am really liking the DG now, but the first 1/3 was a bit of a struggle. (Probably beacuse it was almost all new people, and they are in a completely different area - but who knows!) -Like I said I am really getting into it now, and will probably take a gander at the reread for DG here when I finish up DG. Tess

Hi Tricia - testing out the shout box. I haven't checked the reread parts for Deadhouse Gates, but I am about 1/2 way through. Where Heboric can see(but is blind). Felisin is hard to read - but I would bet that something will happen(I am not there yet...). I like Duiker too - somethibg about writers and history for me or something:) I have much, much more to say - but just wanted to tell you that I am still enjoying the tales - although I am not able to devote a lot of time to reading them, and it is a much more 'slow' read, as so much is packed in, that I find myself needing to go back becuase I went through a passage to fast. Hi Tricia, how goes life? caught back up on the WoT reread, but wayyy behind on Malazan, even the summaries are so long, maybe I'll just skip ahead and join you guys. You know I still haven't found the time to read the final book? it's driving me mad but Malazan isn't something you can just pick up as a small break. or at least I can't

Hi Tricia - I did get GotM for Christmas - I am so excited to finaly start it. This is a real busy time at work for me so I haven't been able to go gung ho on reading it - like reading it straight through in a couple of days. This may be a good thing though, now I can think about what little I have read while at work. I hope to catch up with you all in a month, maybe? Hope you had a great Christmas, and now New Years Eve is almost here - have a good one! Tess

Hi Tricia - My kids are bugging me about what I want for Christmas. I know you are a fan of the Malazan Empire:) Generally, when I buy books, I buy ones I know I will reread - otherwise there is the library. I am thinking that the Mazalan books fall into the definite reread category - would you agree? I finally broke down and read through the aSoIaF series, and I am glad I brought them(although I admit to skipping the Eddard scene when I reread GoT)and I am not too attached to any of the characters. From the little I have seen from the Malazan thread here, it looks like it would be a good idea to have the books handy, and rereads are a must. Agree? Thanks Tess

Hi Tricia - Great to hear from you - sorry for the late reply - there is no longer the 'you have a shout message'. I don't have a facebook account, but I am considering opening one up. I will tell you when I do. (Husband is in IT and is always telling horror stories about it - but I think if you use it with your brain on(!) it should be alright.) Look forward to joining you guys. I wasn't very active on here during KoD(even though I enjoyed it) but I am back:) Tess

Based on Kalam's "just like old times" comment, I'm not even sure that the acorn that fell near Kalam had anything to do with Cotillion but came directly from QB. LOL Gotta love the way SE makes us dissect the smallest things! It truly does make this the best series for re-read that I have ever come across.

Yes, my first thought as well was oneof the black diamonds (demon diamonds) that may have fallen from Kalam's clothing when he entered the Whirlwind but I never saw where Cotillion gave it to anyone later so I scratched that. LOL Anyway, thanks for sharing!
