About Me
I have been reading and enjoying SF since 1966 with the original airing of Star Trek. I believe that is where my enjoyment of good military SF started.

@Earth and Ice- the "history" behind my icon- This was also worn by Canadians with 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion. It depicts the first "airborne warrior" - Bellerophon riding the flying horse Pegasus. Back in the day- A tale was told by Homer Three thousand years ago About the first winged soldier and this is all we know! He was born in the town of Corinth And called Bellerophon He had rather strict upbringing Considering what went on. He had to do some dodging because he wouldn't play With the lady at his lodging And she took it the wrong way. For she made her husband pick him For the worst job in the place, to fight a damned great dragon that no-one else would face. Athene, the great goddess, Was on his side of course, And gave him some golden harness to catch a flying horse. He could handle the heaviest spear there was And he'd practice all the cuts, But the fact that he fought on Pegasus Showed brains as well as guts. We don't know if he glided, Or dropped down like a hawk, But we know that he decided That it wasn't safe to walk. The monster breathed out clouds of flak And had an armoured skin, So he made the first airborne attack, And did the bastard in! -off of the site. No copyright infringement intended Woof™.

Hi Elena, thanks for the compliment on the avatar pic. Love the kitty, btw. I've noticed a plethora of obvious cat lovers lately, too--poor Subwoofer! ;) Cheers! :)

Hi Elena:) Yeah, I grew up watching John Wayne myself. Love every bit of it. The clip I tried to show was the fight scene from the Quiet Man, one of my favorite movies, where the whole village and surrounding counties want to get in on this epic fight. Anyways, McLintock worked fine as that "I'm not going to hit you, the hell I'm not" line was classic. Thank you for the warm wishes as well:) Woof™. -John

BTW, your profile said you enjoy good military SF. Have you read "Armor" by John Steakley? Truly a remarkable novel IMO. If by some chance you haven't read it - skip the Amazon reviews and read it with as little foreknowledge as possible for the best experience.

He wrapped the cat in bacon?? Eew! Ironically that reminds me of a recent news story where they pulled some guy over and found his cat (alive) in the trunk, marinating in spices. The guy seems to be a few bricks short of a full load. As for me - I'm a confirmed sucker for a fuzzy face, esp. cats. Would not torment my cats by wrapping them in bacon - a waste of good bacon anyway!
